Mountain mama, perterjoe was a spammer. He AND his spam have been removed.

Welcome, Daisychicky! Hang in there…it took my husband quite a while to come around, but he’s FINALLY on board now. It just took BOTH of us losing our jobs at the same time for him to finally understand WHY I prep, and to realize that BECAUSE I prep, we were able to get through until we were working again. Fortunately, our oldest daughter (who is TOTALLY on board) now has a guy who is ALSO totally on board, so that gives us extra hands for getting things done.

Hi folks…I’m a newbie here but not to homesteading/micro-farming/prepping. I sorta shy away from the term “prepper” thanks to the TV show “Doomsday Preppers”…heck, I don’t even own a single piece of camo wear!…but my family and I do try to live as self sufficiently as possible. We raise a few veggies, some small landowner style livestock, and are in the process of firing the power company. I hope to get some ideas here and maybe contribute some back as well.

Have a great day!
Bob

good afternoon I’m a new member and new to prepping . I’m a Vietnam vet and soon to be divorced from a toxic relationship. currently I’m in Maryland but looking at property in Texas . I have been following things in the society as we know it and feel it is time to make a more sustainable home . something that I can pass on to my daughter (hopefully ) . I have found some places that are affordable but need more info on what I should look for in property in preps and in building a long term survival place .

Welcome Mike.

Look around, ask questions. I am sure some of the Texas folks can give some good pointers.

Introduce Yourself • Hello from Arizona

January 15, 2017 vforgemac 0

Hey there all, you can call me Mac and I am 123 seasons old. I was going to state my age in moons but that would be a little much… 30 years though for the mathematically un-inspired. I hail from the more-mountains-than-you-thought state of AZ where the old west still survives in at least 2nd amendment terms. I am not even someone who would consider themselves a prepper but I admire those that know how. I do value self reliance and I’m a total sponge when it comes to learning new things so if the prepper bug bites me so be it! Anyway, I’m here for the knowledge and to disperse it too if I am able or explore networking possibilities. I love Jesus, fitness and ancient history. Thanks for having me :D

Edit: my current interests in regards to prepping are communications and navigation skills. :)

Welcome from “Baja” Arizona! There are quite a few sub-forums here that may answer some of your questions. I suggest starting in the “Getting Started – the Basics” section, and then move on from there. There are plenty of us on here who have been at it for quite a while, so by all means, if you can’t find answers to your questions, then ASK!

Welcome aboard.

Introduce Yourself • Greetings from Texas!

January 14, 2017 Talmek 0

Hi Folks,

I’m a new (1-year in…is that new, still?) prepper that has been looking for a forum of active members to share ideas and thoughts across this big wide Internet. It appears that this is the place that will be my home for awhile, so I wanted to drop a note and say hi from the new kid. I’m currently at the 1-month preparedness milestone and am working toward a longer-term plan, so once I get my feet under me I’m sure I’ll start bugging anyone who will listen for answers around “how did you <X>?”

I have a large (7 – 2 adults and 5 children) along with three dogs, a bearded dragon and too many fish to keep track of. I’m the primary prepper of the family, although it seems as though my oldest child is beginning to show interest in self-reliance as well.

I’m looking forward to getting to know all the movers and the shakers here on the APN forums, so thanks for taking the time to read all this!
