While I do see where a strong enough CME could knock out the power grid and cause disruptions in radio waves, I don’t see the correlation between them and Hurricanes. Irma, Jose, and others mentioned in the link were formed and had strengthened long before the flares had erupted. Maybe I’m just a little cunfused, but it seems like a bit of a stretch. :?

I agree, it’s a little too early to get too exercised, but I did hedge my bets. Went down to home depot and bought another metal trash can, some more batteries, more water and some chlorine. I had bought a new weather radio and another Boefeng radio I want to (try) to protect. I had to take this pretty serious as Ben does not normally say some of the things he said, quite a departure from his normal daily feeds.

Our daughter came by, so we went though things w/ her and texted our son. She did get the implications should this turn out to be bad and took things very seriously. We sent her home w/ a 1 week bucket and a case of water. I also sent Ben’s feed to others.

Great dry run if nothing else!

Glad RM your son is OK along with everybody else that has relatives/friends down there.

As far as price gouging, the Texas State Attorney General has issued warnings, a $20,000.00 fine per incident and if the victim is over the age of 65, it’s a $250,000 dollar fine per incident. He said if you were priced gouged, contact his office on who, where, when and if you have the receipt, keep it for evidence and the state will prosecute the person/persons/company to the fullest extent of the law with no exceptions.

I saw him on Fox News, and he said they consider price gouging as anything over 10% of the recent average on essential goods. And of course the looting has already been reported. SMH

We called the oil Co. to fill up ahead of what will be escalating prices. Cars, off road vehicles and cans are filled.

We lived in south Fla. years ago when Andrew came in. One this big is no joke, and there wasn’t near the amount of rain this thing is going to dump. I can’t imagine.

We ran into a good friend of the family last night. Her son is in the army and was supposed to be heading for his 3rd deployment to Afghanistan.
However, she said his deployment was called off due to the unrest with the crazy fat kid! The are keeping him in a base in Alaska. So it is very much in the minds of our military.

Good stuff Driven. I’m a total novice, but I’m hooked! Like I said, I watch it every day. We got all excited to watch for northern lights last weekend from that CME, but it got here to early in the day. We got nothing. :x I’m definitely someone who preps for grid down situations, so this is very interesting for me. Great prep actually, don’t you think?

Earthquake watch for the next 24-36 hours, that must be a good reason for you out on the left coast to watch this channel. Good luck! ;)

….No fear, Eyes open… :D

Good post Rick. The more I read, the more I get confused. I’m trying to cover my bases, but wow, there is a lot of conflicting info out there, just like in that video. One guy saying it’s not an issue, one guy says it’s a huge. One guy says you must ground a faraday cage, another says you don’t. One says test your faraday cage w/ a cell phone, one says that’s not true.

The best advice is as you say Rick, stock stuff as if there is no power. Heck, even if N. Korea doesn’t ever set off a emp, there is always the sun and a cme to think about. That has happened, it WILL happen again!

I’d still like to know what the details were. How far away from our coast was it shot down? How high was it when it was shot down? Hypothetically, if there was a nuke on board, what would be the nuclear fallout from it? Would such a blown up nuke still cause an emp? What would the effects be if there was an emp on the west coast/ western US?

North Korea warns of bigger ‘gift package’ to US after missile test
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/05/30 … -test.html

On Tuesday, the U.S. military is expected to test for the first time a interceptor missile — used to shoot down a intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

This is the first time the U.S. military has attempted to test a ground-based interceptor against an “intercontinental class target,” The Missile Defense Agency confirmed to Fox News.

Anyone see any news on this test? I haven’t seen anything yet.
