General Arkansas Discussion, News, and Weather • check your BOB!

April 4, 2017 mombear 0

I know you won’t believe me, but I am a avid camper and while out camping found myself short of a item. Knowing I also carry it in my BOB, I went to get it out and discovered that I have neglected some items in the BOB, like the candy, crackers and other non-long term stuff. With that said, I have fixed my problem and restocked the BOB, plus removed a few things that I really don’t think I will need.

Today is the day to check your BOB and correct anything that needs to be done!

Food & Water • Re: storing coffee

April 4, 2017 mombear 0

Just a FYI I opened a jar of coffee I vacuum packed in ’06, took it to the American Legion Post and made a 99 cup peculator full of coffee with it. Someone asked me what type of coffee it was cause it was good. It was dunkin’ donuts brand, LOL!!

Anyways thought you all might want to know. I have vacuum packed two quart jars to replace it.

Financial Issues • Re: Prepper investments

March 9, 2017 mombear 0

in our town there are empty lots and I found that I can purchase them for really cheap (some for as low as $600). These lots aren’t big, but what I did was buy a pre-fab single wide house (I did find a couple of used ones that saved a ton), put it on a permanent foundation and rented it out. I also had built a carport. My total costs was just under $40,000 and able to rent them out for $800 a month. Your ROI will be low for a few years, then it is all gravy. My plan is to pay them off in 5 years. I am looking for more lots now.

Introduce Yourself • been gone for a while

March 9, 2017 mombear 0

been gone for a while, With a move more southerly and adult children who still need mom to come to the rescue. I recently did a inventory of my pantry and was shocked on how low we are. So the next few months will be restocking it, good news I have a lot of empty jars!!! The containers for my container garden are in the yard and hopefully this week we can get them filled with gravel and dirt. I have added more storage in plain view around the house and was surprised by my DH’s willingness to help with it.

I am looking forward to catching up on all the posts. Keep prepping, it is almost spring time!!!!
