A.N.T.S. • Re: The American Dream

January 28, 2017 daaswampman 0

I thick the American Dream is alive and well on the fringes! I don’t see it where I work, even among those making excellent money as corporate america kills any kind of free thought or speech.

I see it all the time in entrepreneurs at the antique and car shows I attend! It never was a job and security to me, it is independence! Last weekend I met a 20 something guy selling vintage military badges and pins. He was motivated and knowledgeable, judging by his inventory and his eagerness to buy, I would say he was also doing very well.

I would say it is alive and well, but a traditional job or education may kill it in a hurry! Swamp

I have insurance, but my PCP is cash. I think your going to see much more of this in the very near future, as those who can afford it will pay for convenience and quality.

He got tired of seeing broke down Medicaid Patients for twelve bucks a pop with a load of paperwork. Now he has a life, a cell phone, and will even make house calls! He told me he is making just as much in half the time, but his real motivation is having patients actually trying to stay well. I am sure I will now hear endless sad personal stories, but medical care is a business and even a Doctor needs a life.

I know I have a poor attitue, but try spending your days listening to unmotivated old fat people, wanting another magic pill to fix all that is wrong in their life. Swamp

Roger that. The wife and I saved as much as we could, living very frugal. People didn’t like coming to our house because it did not have all the luxury trappings they were accustomed to. Our family and friends had toys, snowmobiles, minibikes, motorcycles, boats, cabins, expensive vacations, etc and they were in debt up to the eyeballs. We had NONE of that.

Now we are debt free and I am 59 1/2 and retired. Well semi retired, the company I last worked for brought me in part time as a contractor, I call my own hours.

So all those family and friends are tinkled I am retired and they need to work into their 70’s and beyond.

That is pretty much how I did it. Always lived on less than I made and now they can’t understand why I can pay cash for what I want. I will admit it rubs me the wrong way when some fecalhole tells me how lucky I am or that it just can’t be done.

Now my biggest problem (drum roll please and a few sniffles would be nice) is getting used to spending and how to leave some to the kids. Money can’t buy happiness, but a new 911 seems to ease the pain! Swamp

I would also slash Social Security. I would look at the persons personal wealth and if they have the money, stop their SS payments. Tough choice to make but what the heck. I have two brothers that don’t take theirs and those same two could get disability from the Military and do NOT.

If you have earned it, then it should be a personal choice. What they need to do is dump everyone on Social Security that never worked or paid into the system. At the same time it needs to be phased out and responsibility shifted to the individual! I cannot remember how many times I have heard people use Social Security as an excuse not to save or keep working. Swamp

I have a good friend that inherited a lot of money and I hear people badmouth that all the time. All it proves is his family was more successful then those who don’t have a dime to leave their children. There is no virtue in being rich and there sure as hell ain’t any in being poor. Swamp

It is a step in the right direction. Expecially knowing where everything is made, but until we can make a better product at a competitive price, we’re just passing gas! Most people including myself, will not buy second best or pay more, just because it is made in America. America has the ability to make the best products at the best prices! Anything less is just continuing the problem.

Then consider where it is made in America! Right now I would rather spend my dollars on something made in Mexico, than certain blue states! Our real enemies are within our own boarders! Swamp

For our sake, I hope he is successful and the opposition should as well! If he fails we all fail, except he is still a billionaire of international holdings with many friends.

My greatest concern is not a return to the failed policies of the left, but an even greater swing to the right. Until the left understands why they lost and pulls to the center, we will continue to elect more and more right wingers. The pendulum has been swinging to the left for decades and the swing back will last just as long. Trump is not the cause, just a symptom of our condition. Swamp

India’s death rate according to CIA world factbook is about 7 per 1000. Based on this, 8.4 million people die every year in India which comes to 22,500 per day approximately.

https://www.quora.com/How-many-people-d … -every-day

No one actually knows how many die every year or the causes of their deaths. This is due do to an inadequate and antiquated health care system for the masses. What we do know is millions of Indians travel every year. This could get interesting real fast, as you can carry this bug and not be ill! Swamp

Louisiana Discussion, News and Weather • Woman dies of superbug resistant to all antibiotics

January 16, 2017 daaswampman 0

Woman dies of superbug resistant to all antibiotics

[snip]

NEVADA – This is the kind of case researchers warned about for years.

A Nevada woman in her 70’s died months ago from an infection that no antibiotic in America could have defeated, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released Thursday.

The woman was hospitalized in August last year after she returned from an extended trip to India. Doctors discovered that she was suffering from a carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infection, which she had apparently contracted after being treated for a broken right hip in India, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

She died of septic shock, and testing showed the bacteria was resistant to all 14 kinds of antibiotics the hospital had on hand, per the medical website Stat. Even more alarmingly, later tests revealed that none of the 26 antibiotics in America would have worked.

“I think this is the harbinger of future badness to come,” Dr. James Johnson, a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota, says. He noted that while this is — for now — a very rare case, it’s hard to believe nobody else in the country is carrying the same strain of CRE.

Johnson said people often ask him: “‘How close are we to the edge of the cliff?’ And I tell them: ‘We’re already falling off the cliff.’ “

I am in Lordsburg, NM tonight, got hit with very strong crosswinds and rain in the desert
so we and I noticed many others stopped early. I was hoping to get to Quartzite tomorrow,
hope I still can. It doesn’t sound like its going to be real warm there either and going to be
cold in Vegas too. Oh well, just one of those years, still enjoying ourselves though.

I am pretty well supplied just in case like I always am, but likely could use more to be safe.

With lots of the stuff he says he comes across as a complete idiot. For example, go to 6:38 on the video which I link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI9tov6A2DI

It all depends on the audience you seek and are trying to influence! I am sure he has no interest in anyone, with practical knowledge of weapons. Seriously – does the truth have anything to do with politics or how most people vote? It takes no brains or much effort to vote, all thanks to our lovely Constitution and the many mistakes of our Founding Fathers.

The bottom line is he is a billionaire with massive financial / political influence and that squeaking noise form some gun loving peons – just doesn’t matter! Or we can all hang onto Trump’s every statements about the Second and they may even be true, but have you ever seen him hunting or even with his hands dirty? Sure his son does some canned trophy hunting, but what does that have to do with the Second?
