I’d recommend a single-stack 9mm. There are several good ones on the market, pick one that fit’s your hand and feels comfortable. A few recommended models:

    Ruger LC9S
    Glock 43
    Kahr CM9
    Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield

You can’t go wrong with any of those.

This isn’t a conventional war guys. The Islamist’s aren’t trying to kill all of the men who can fight, they are trying to destroy their enemies WILL to fight. Islam means “submission”, they want their enemies to submit and bow to their rule. They know they can’t conquer Europe through force of arms, at least not for a few more generations. They are playing the long game. Europeans aren’t having enough children to offset the death rate but the Muslim immigrants are breeding like rabbits. They will take European brides and have more Muslim babies. Give it a couple of generations and Muslims will be the majority in Europe and nobody will have the will to fight them.

Long story short: Western Europe is lost. Eastern Europe isn’t taking in “refugees” so they will likely survive.

You’re supposed to meet force with equal force. Shooting somebody who is beating someone else up, unless they’re using a weapon you could be charged with the use of excessive force. Shooting an unarmed person could get you in trouble for using excessive force and if you kill them that’s grounds for manslaughter. As far as I know that’s how it is everywhere in the country, you’re supposed to meet force with equal force. Apparently in states such as NY if a confrontation ends with your attacker being hurt worse than you than you will be the one getting in trouble, even if your attacker attacked first.

Louisiana’s Self Defense Law. In Louisiana deadly force may be used, without an obligation to retreat, whenever a person is in imminent danger of being killed or facing great bodily harm and that deadly force is necessary to prevent the killing or seriously injury.

It says nothing related to weapons being equal or both parties being armed. It is why a friend shot and killed an unarmed drug addict trying to break into his home and got nothing but the respect of his neighbors. He had no way to know if someone breaking in his door was armed or not! Nor is a weapon necessary to put someone in imminent danger! Swamp

Swamp is correct. Photon Guy you really need to read The Law of Self Defense by Andrew Branca.

BK, I agree to an extent, anything less than 18 inches, shotgun or rifle is classified as a Title 2 weapon and requires a tax stamp/permit from NFA. 26 U.S.C. and NFA regulations.

From the article:

It’s the same position that ATF has always taken regarding PGO firearms that fire a fixed shotgun shell that have NEVER had a buttstock attached to them—they’re NOT shotguns! They’re simply firearms. As such, they don’t necessarily need to have 18″+ barrels on them to remain out of the purview of the NFA.

You see, the very definition of a “shotgun” requires that it be “designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder…” Without a buttstock ever having been fitted to the PGO firearms in question, they can’t be fired from the shoulder and are therefore not shotguns. Hence, with a 14″ barrel, they can’t be considered short-barreled shotguns, as they aren’t shotguns to begin with.

PGO firearms that remain longer than 26″ in overall length also can’t be defined as AOWs. That’s because the term “any other weapon” (AOW) means “any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person…” And ATF maintains that to be concealed, the firearm needs to be shorter than 26″.

So basically this firearm is taking advantage of loopholes to remain technically legal and not subject to the NFA.

The Shockwave is considered an “non-NFA firearm” under the NFA and therefore isn’t limited to a minimum barrel length like a shotgun is. Don’t ask me the legal details, I have no idea why.

Springfield Armory, Rock River Arms Trade Opposition to Illinois FFL Licensing Scheme for Carve-Out

Earlier today, the Illinois State Senate passed bill SB-1657 by a one-vote margin. While its prospects are still unsure in the House, if signed by Governor Bruce Rauner, the new law will mandate state licensing for all Illinois gun dealers. It will also restrict all others in Illinois to nine firearm transfers per year.

The lobbyist for the Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA), Jay Keller, traded that group’s opposition to the bill in exchange for a carve-out, removing Prairie State firearms manufacturers from the licensing requirements.

Two companies provide the bulk of the funding for IFMA: Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms.

…………………

At a March Senate hearing, however, Keller stated that IFMA would drop its opposition to SB-1657 and go neutral if legislators gave the state’s gun makers a pass. State Senator Don Harmon delivered on his end of the deal with an amendment exempting big box stores and manufacturers from this scheme.

With that amendment, IFMA dropped its opposition to the bill, going neutral on the witness slip. That serves as a very public position on a bill in Illinois politics.

There are plenty of gun manufacturers out there so no need to do business with companies that sell out the 2nd Amendment for a competitive advantage. Of course it’s your call as a consumer if you want to give them your money.

And, keep it reasonably clean.

I have experienced failure to fire even with premium match-grade .22 ammo. Better ammo does help but rimfire is inherently less reliable than center-fire ammo. It’s just a fact.

I ran several hundred rounds of Eley through a old Ruger MKII. Did not clean it once.
No issues.
I have had the same results with Lapua, SK, RWS.
Just saying.

There is a reason the old Henry rifles that fired .44 rimfire used dual firing pins. Just saying.

The reliability issue is a limitation of physics. With a thin hollow rim the primer is “spun” into the hollow rim. Trouble is the priming compound isn’t always distribute evenly and sometimes doesn’t ignite when crushed. This makes rimfite inherently less reliable than centerfire.
