From what I read recently, places like ancestry.com and others have the right to do what they want with your DNA once they have it. They can sell it or whatever so basically it is now public information. I was interested in submitting a sample to se…

Was switching between the Weather channel, FOX, and Good Morning America on Sunday morning to try and figure out if I could put together a real picture of what was happening. On Good Morning America they were interviewing the Houston police chief on the phone. The anchor, can’t remember the dweeb’s name , asked what he thought about the governor saying don’t evacuate and the mayor saying to go. He was trying to get the chief to start the finger pointing already, always got to blame somebody. The police chief handled it real well, he told them he was handling a bad situation and that kind of stuff would have to come in the future he didn’t have time for that.

Timely to see this topic come up today. We have a mostly outdoor cat that likes to sleep inside but for the past couple of weeks hasn’t wanted to go out except a quick out and in when she can’t hold it any longer. Didn’t really think much of it till I noticed my paw paw tree that had been loaded with fruit was stripped bare. Put the cage trap out and in the past three days I have caught 2 coons and one of the biggest possums I ever saw. Don’t know how many more I have but I haven’t had any problems for the past 2-3 years and now they are back. No wonder the cat likes it better inside for a while. From the looks of her right ear must have tangled with one of them.

Water • Re: Best Water Filter?

TREX
You are assuming correctly. I remember my 4th grade teacher making the whole class giggle when she explained what happens when you “assume”. Anyway, This would be an shtf or emergency situation to use as drinking water, otherwise using as gray water would be no big deal. I was looking for a better answer but looks like there is not just one answer. a lot would depend on which chemicals were used and the concentration levels.

What about swimming pool water? is there a good filter for it? What information I have found is all over the map. Everything from it normally has too much chemical to be removed easily to you could almost drink it straight. When the day comes my main plan is to use the pool water for the toilets and maybe as wash water and such. But have been trying to get some reliable info to use as potable water. Anybody have an opinion?

Guns • Re: Taurus Judge

Let me throw in on the 410/45 discussion. I wanted a small pistol to carry when deer hunting mainly for snakes other ugly critters but would also conceal easily. I have a friend who has a Judge and loves it and also has the Circuit Judge rifle version. Shot them and nothing wrong with either one but wanted a little smaller. I wound up with a Bond Arms Snake Slayer derringer. Stainless steel 3″ over/under double barrel single trigger. It is strictly a close range weapon, when you put a 2 1/2″ 410 shell in you have no barrel left. I tried a #4 shell at 10′ from a 410 H&R shotgun and it had a 4″ pattern. Same shell from the pistol had a 4′ pattern, definetly a close range weapon. When you pull the trigger you better have a good hold on it or it may smack you in the face, more kick than my Ruger 44, but I like it. It is what I keep next to the bed and is usually my carry weapon. I don’t remember the name on them but the shells I keep in it are personal defense 410 rounds that have 3 copper discs backed up with bb’s.

Water • Re: storing water 2 liter bottles

February 8, 2017 BigOrange75 0

Ran across this old thread and want to add some input. I buy gallon jugs of distilled water to use in my CPAP machine and reuse them as water jugs. With these I don’t have to worry because they haven’t had milk, juice, or whatever in them. I keep a few in the freezer, perfect to bust up when making home made ice cream, and did store some on a shelf. Had a couple leak on the shelf so I started using milk crates and have had no more leakers. I only had a few crates and got to checking pricing on new ones and the cost wasn’t worth it to me. Seems like everybody has a few but they are hard to find on the cheap, yard sales and flea markets but not for sale. I check the freebies on craigslist often and lucked into 10 of them recently from a college student moving out of an apartment for free. Probably a one time find. Also as I have heard before store them with jug handles to the middle to keep more support on the sides because they are so thin.
