I haven’t done much of anything in awhile. Got the blahs. But. I did get the shed where I can get in it, several empty cardboard boxes tossed out. Restacked existing stuff. Got several tubs of stuff out of the RV. It’s too cluttery in there. It’s getting time to think about getting out of the RV, its deteriorating and I’m getting tired of RV living.

Ladies Section • Re: Does Anyone Still Sew?

September 23, 2017 arkieready 0

I wish I had more time to sew again. Last time I was in goodwill, I found a 100% silk blouse in a nice neutral gray and an ombré gray to purple skirt, also pure silk with a lining. The blouse fit except the 3/4 sleeves were too snug, the skirt well, just no. But the material was gorgeous. And I couldn’t think of a thing to do with it.
Old sweaters can be cut and sewn into use items. Old ratty towels to pot holders, etc.
an ex-bf received a quilt made from his gramma’ s old house dresses, just a simple pattern with lots of memories sewn in it.

Sigh. Well, I finally deleted undelivered messages to Reb. I miss his dry sarcasm. And helpfulness. Quirky humor.
I’m kinda feeling like too many are moving out of my reach. . People from church leaving, friends moving, people here no longer heard from. Acquaintances passing.
Feels like fall. Ya know what I mean?

Guns • Re: Recommend a good conceal pistol for a female

September 8, 2017 arkieready 0

I have both lcp and lc9. Lcp fits poorly in women’s pants pockets(can hardly conceal a quarter in women’s pants pockets), but does go in. It get lost in my men’s shorts pockets ( men get cavernous pockets). I can conceal it in the flash bang bra holster. Not flat chested or boy built.
My 9 I can carry in a jacket pocket, or iwb if I’m wearing a sweater. I’m kinda pudgy and have a very short waist.
The slide thing. Are you pulling or pushing? Out in front or using your chest to support your forearms? I have very bad wrists and often numb-ish thumbs and fingers and I can do it. I don’t pinch it with my fingers and thumb, I more use a monkey grip (?)
It would be nice if you knew someone with those guns near you to let you try. Gun club? CCW instructor? Gun shop owner? I would if you were near me.
I exercised my own judgement, contrary to DH’s recommendations (lol) and not sorry. He’d have me carry a glock or a revolver in weird sizes. When I holstered his weapon on me the way he carries, I looked like a, um, “gifted” man. To much firearm for my britches.
My musings.

I’ve been thinking. We are fortunate that Reb thought enough of us to let us know he would be leaving us.
How many have just disappeared from here? Not the ones we might or might not have driven away because they were trolls, but even a couple of them I’ve wondered about. But others, who posted frequently or regularly, then -poof- nothing. I remember one or two announcing they were going dark.

Medical Experts • Re: Benefits of Vinegar???

September 2, 2017 arkieready 0

Vinegar is also good to extract the essence of herbals instead of alcohol. Maybe some are better with vinegar or alcohol, I can’t think of any right now. Ask an expert!
Right now I am make my second batch of “fire cider”. ACV (Bragg’s) It’s a knock off of a commercial product, containing in part: ginger, hot peppers, horse radish, garlic, cinnamon, (turmeric when I get some fresh). Makes an immune boosting, tastebuds shocking shooter cut 50/50 with raw local honey. Easier to drink in a little warm water. Smells like a science experiment, but tastes better than it smells.
My plan is to take a tbsp of this in the AM and a tbsp of elderberry extract/honey (alcohol based) in the PM during cold/flu season. These can be increased to combat symptoms (horseradish WILL help clear your stuffy nose). DH calls them my “elixir of death”
