APN Getting Started In Preparedness Columnist

Lurking inside this ol’ gal is a passion for her family that drives me to make the best of the present and prepare for the future. It’s only been three years since my eyes have been opened and I have gained a slightly crazed fascination with natural disasters, survival stories and preparing for the unknown.  I am pretty positive at times it drives my family completely crazy, but I have proven my point to always be prepared for the unknown that lies ahead.

I write to teach others about the importance of preparedness and share ideas I’ve tried, some with great success as well as my failures.

The intel on MidwestPrepper:

I’m a thirty-something mother of 4 beautiful daughters, one still at home, grandmother of 2 and soon 2 will be joining our family.  I am a homeschool mom and wife to a busy, hard-working husband.  We reside in a beautiful rural area of Northeastern Oklahoma.

Beyond being a mom and a wife, I am a web designer, and avid blogger, social media nerd, a self-proclaimed chef extraordinaire and a prepper.

I love food but partial to authentic Mexican, blogging, reading a good book, and oddly enough grateful to my OCD for desire to continuously clean my house although frustrating at times.

Technically, the future has always been uncertain.  Only a few months ago we had earthquakes here in Oklahoma, we do have regular small tremors from time to time but not anything I ever feel in my neck of the woods, but when we had the 5.7 magnitude earthquake,  it was felt across several states, it was a realization many things are not within in my control. Uncertainty surrounds us on so many levels: the economy, national security, natural disasters, and a world increasingly filled with threats against our country.

If you’ve been stashing away a few groceries every week or researching how to make a solar oven, you’re not alone!  I hope you’ll find reassurance and practical help here, and I welcome your thoughts and ideas as well. Our concerns for the present and future can be channeled into actions that will help provide for and protect our families while still enjoying the heck out of life!
